The Impact of Traffic

These before and after pictures show how much the public space round Archway has been squeezed to make way for motor vehicles, making it a lot less comfortable for people to move around.

Examples here are the top of Holloway Road, Dartmouth Park Hill and the Archway Road from Archway Bridge.

Rather different is what has happened to the old A1 to the east of the Archway Tavern. Relatively busy in the two older photographs, despite the 2016/17 pedestrianisation the space appears to continue blighted by the impact of the Archway Tower (renamed Vantage Point), even as seen here, in the height of a summer morning.
